4 Factors In Considering a Hot Tub

Return to Blogs Published: September 12, 2011 05:56 PM

Many people consider buying a hot tub, but are unsure whether it is something they will enjoy and use on a regular basis. This is understandable, since it is an investment. At Prisco Spas, we tell our customers that are hesitant about making an large investment on something they have never owned before to look first at some used hot tubs. NY and the northeast are ideal for hot tubbing, so it is a nice feature to have at home, and most hot tub and spa owners fall in love with their units very quickly. Used hot tubs offer home or condo owners opportunities to relax after a long hard day at the office, or even after an hour or two of shoveling snow.

If you're thinking about buying a spa, there are a few factors to consider that will help you to choose the right one.

Size
Like anything else, spas come in different sizes. First, decide how many people will probably be using it on a regular basis. If you are someone who likes to entertain guests, you may want to factor that in to your head count. Decide where it will go. There should be enough room for the hot tub itself and some space around it for getting in and out.

Layout
There are different types of spa seating available. For units that are primarily therapeutic, the seating is more in a reclined position. Upright seating general has a shelf to sit on and a place below for the feet. Water jets are strategically positioned in spas, so look for those that focus where you need it, such as the feet or lower back.

Hot Tub Chemicals
Keep in mind that hot tubs do have some routine maintenance involved, but it is simple and well worth the effort. Consult the owner's manuals and product descriptions for details. Some types of water control and cleaning systems are easier to use than others and are done less frequently.

Used Hot Tubs from NY, NJ and CT
From time to time we do carry used hot tubs. These units are typically from previous owners in the area have been cleaned and refurbished. While spas do hold their value well and last for several years, the refurbished units are less expensive than new ones. They are safe to use and could be a good investment for a beginner.
